Dictionaut, no. 2

Another in a series of unknown length, on an irregular schedule, of indeterminate usefulness.

Memnoir

Remembering an event as more dramatic, more dangerous, and more interesting than it really was.

Also known as “Walter Mitty Syndrome.”

The typical afflicted has led a comfortable life but wishes it had been a degree more uncomfortable, in a reach for authenticity, authority, or to establish a higher position in the social hierarchy.

Memnoir is easily diagnosed by asking to hear the same story more than once.

It is related to, but significantly different from, vacationomenclature, in which travel away from one’s typical environment leads to a reinvention in the present, as opposed to memnoir’s rewriting of the past.
